The average American ski resort stays open for only five to six months a year (155 days) but, Big Snow at the American Dream mall is quite different as it is indoors and can stay open all year round. Despite being the smallest ski slope in the North East, it is unique because it is the only ski slope in the North East that is open for 365 days a year. This one of a kind slope opened on December 5th, 2019 and is actually located inside the massive mall complex located in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Because the slope is located indoors, it means that the snow conditions are always consistent and riders do not need to worry about any wind or below freezing temperatures that often make skiing at the mountains less than fun. Big Snow only has three paths for riders to go down, they offer a variety of conditions. They have a bunny hill for lessons, a simple path that goes straight to the base of the chair lift and a slope with a small terrain park for more experienced riders who need a place to practice their tricks during their off-season. Big snow only allows 500 guests in the park at any one time and they offer slope access for two hours at a time, for skiers and riders that want a quick fix. Bigger parties and corporate outings are welcome to come and rent out the slopes for exclusive use and for an extended period if they want. Although most skiers and riders reservations are not required, for bigger parties the reservation needs to be made farther out in advance.
